Description
Studying the Arabic language is important in order to understand the Holy Quran and Noble Hadith, as well as classical texts of Tafsir, Fiqh, Aqidah and other sacred sciences. The grammar of the Arabic language is divided into two main branches – Sarf and Nahw
Very simply, Sarf teaches us how to make words from root letters.’ So, Sarf basically just deals with the (single words). Nahw then teaches us how to join those words together to make phrases and sentences, as well as what particular ending each word will be given.” So, Nahw deals with (single words) and (speech/sentences).’
Testimonials
Sarf and Nahw were previously challenging subjects, with traditional books being in Arabic or Urdu. Various institutes redesigned the same content in English but were unable to break it down to a beginner level. Now, the ‘Essentials’ series of Arabic grammar books has succeeded in meeting the needs of modern students and has changed the way Arabic grammar is taught and learnt.
Mawlana Sheraz Farooq, Dars-i-Nizami (Aalimiyya) teacher
The author has done an excellent service to Islam with the ‘Essentials’ series of books. My students love them, especially the practical elements! I had previously struggled with my students when teaching them sarf from a different book; having to go through that book multiple times without much progress. As for Nahw, we couldn’t even begin because no book was simple enough. Alhamdulilläh, since implementing the ‘Essentials’ series, they now really enjoy Sart, and Nahw has been made very accessible for them.
Ustadha Shabeena Koser, Dars-i-Nizami (Aalimiyya) teacher
I found the ‘Essentials’ series very useful, particularly in my first and second year of Dars-i-Nizami. The textbooks simplify the lessons very well which is ideal for beginners and the practical activities are a great way to test learning and revise from.
Fatimah Rabbani, Dars-i-Nizami (Aalimiyya) student
