Description
The linguistic meaning of “Aqidah is firm conviction in one’s heart, faith (Iman) and belief (I’tiqad). The plural of Aqidah is ‘Aqaid. Those matters which are necessary to affirm with the heart and state with the tongue in order to be a believer are termed Islamic beliefs (Aqa’id). Without the rectification and correctness of ‘Aqä’id, even the best of actions are not accepted by Allah.
He صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ has stated,
“The example of those who disbelieve their Lord is that their deeds are like ashes which are blown by a severe blast of wind on a stormy day. They did not gain anything from their entire earnings. This is distant misguidance.” [Qur’an-e-Karim 14:18]
Thus it is established that if any misguided person amasses a treasure of abundant good deeds, but his beliefs are corrupt, then this treasure will prove to be a heap of ashes. Keeping view of this very reality, the scholars of Ahl-us-Sunnah Wa’l Jama’ ah have written extensively on the subject of beliefs.
From amongst these very works, the present brief book Kitab-ul-‘Aqa’id – The Book of Beliefs was authored by Sadr-ul-Afadil Mawlana Sayyid Muhammad Na ‘imuddin Muradabadi رحمة الله who was the successor of the Imam of Ahl-us-Sunnah Ala Hadrat Mawlana Ahmad Raza Khan Barelwi رحمة الله.
The author has expained Islamic beliefs in an extremely simple manner in everyday language which generally any person young or old, teacher or student, novice or expert, can easily understand and benefit from. This is also an excellent book for beginners to get their root beliefs correct from the beginning.
Allah be praised. It is an honour to translate and present this work for the English speaking masses. May Alläh grant us steadfastness upon Islamic beliefs and protect us and all our future generations from misguided people and their misguidance.
